European Big Knit
A beautiful soft knit that certainly makes a statement! It's lovely and soft, has a great chunky texture and thickness but is not heavy or rigid and has good movement throughout the Knit.
A few helpful sewing tips: Shoulders and armholes can be reinforced with seam tape or the edges can be bound with bias tape made from ribbing, a large seam allowance is also recommended. Cuffs and bands can be sewn onto this fabric quite easily, it is best to perhaps practice on a few scraps on the overlocker to get the best settings and techniques prior to sewing your garment. Easily sewn on the sewing machine using a size 90 stretch needle and a longer stitch length, for extra strength and handling on the hems – you could trial a bias binding tape made from cotton jersey or ribbing to help form a nice stable/ structured hem.
** We had great time in the Wattle Hill sewing studio sampling this lovely knit on our machines, please see our recent posts on our facebook page for videos and pictures showcasing this and the ribbing cuff band that we easily sewed onto this knit using the overlocker. We also hemmed it successfully on the sewing machine using an elongated stitch and sewing at a slow pace to adjust the fabric and keep the hem aligned as we sewed.
